Press Release 101 at the next Tampa Bay Inventors Council meeting July 23rd!

Do you have an invention that will change the world?  Maybe it is something that can change the world for a few people or perhaps it is something that other people might enjoy.  The challenge we all face is to get our idea in front of the target market and getting the press to share our story.  If you use social media, you might have half a chance of connecting with a few but the better opportunity would be to move beyond just your connections and reach a broader audience.  The way to do this is to send a “press release” to media outlets and share your story as news.
This Wednesday, July 23rd, the Tampa Bay Inventors Council has invited Nancy Howe,  an expert on drafting “press Releases” and she will share how the new wave of press releases have gained importance in the changing world of the media.  She will talk about how to use press releases as a promotional vehicle for your product or idea. We'll also learn: what should and should not be part of a press release; how to make them more versatile for multiple uses; how to use local free resources and general tips about releases and getting them noticed. ”, Nancy is the Publisher at Tampa Bay News Wire and the CEO of KnowHowe, (
www.knowhowe.biz)  an electronic press release / news letter sent by email.
Nancy has spent the vast majority of her life in Pinellas County and began her publishing career at the St. Petersburg Times.  She became the Managing Editor of Art & Design News and moved on to work her way up and become publisher of Maddux Business Report for 14 years until the magazine’s close in 2010. She also created the Maddux NewsWire, a local press release service that continues to gain in popularity and has been re-branded as Tampa Bay Newswire.  At the Maddux Business Report she was involved in all of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Organizations as well as the major ones across the high tech corridor and continues to sit on the boards of some of these organizations.
Nancy Howe’s signature business, KnowHowe is a full-service writing company that offers a varied menu... from blogs, to press releases,  editing, web copy, ebooks and everything in between.  Nancy was Named the 2006 Tampa Bay Business Woman of the Year from the Women’s Council of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and inducted into the Tampa Bay Business Women’s Hall of Fame.
Please join me in welcoming Nancy on July 23rd for this vital discussion on getting your message out and reaching the people who want to buy your invention!

Tampa Bay Inventors meeting this Wednesday July 9th- all about 3D printing

This week at TBIC we are joined by Luis Gomez of EMS (www.ems-usa.com) for an in-depth look at what’s new in the world of rapid prototyping and 3D printing.  This is an amazing technology that has seen huge growth in the past few years and not without some controversy.  It has reduced the barrier to product development and made prototyping much more affordable.  Some 3D printers can now print with metal and others can print flexible or colorful plastics.  Scanning technology has also advanced so that a clay model can be more rapidly turned into a CAD design for tweaking and structural analysis.  If you have any interest in rapidly designing a product without spending tons of cash tooling, than you must attend the Tampa Bay Inventors Council this Wednesday, July 9th from 7-9pm at 7887 Bryan Dairy Rd in largo, FL.  Doors open at 6:30 right up the green staircase facing Bryan Dairy.  I hope to see you there!
Regards
Wayne
